Hippiastrum papilo

Hippeastrum papilio.

In the Subfamily Amaryllidoideae it is known as the Butterfly Amaryllis.

Plants up to 50 cm high growing from a bulb.
Semi-evergreen dark green strap-like leaves.
Each bulb can have 2 to 3 inforescences each with 2 to 5 flowers.

Flowers are up to 15 cm across.
There are 6 tepals with pointed tips.

Tepals are cream, white or greenish with apple green at the base.
There are burgendy, maroon or purple stripes.
They can flower twice a year.
