Sambucus australasica

Sambucus australasica.

The Native or Yellow Elderberry is endemic in N. E. Queensland.
Shrubs or small trees up to 4 m high.

Leaves are 6 to 25 cm long, on stalks up to 10 cm long and with coarsely toothed edges.
They are divided into 3 or 5 narrow elliptic leaflets sometimes with an asymmetric base.
Leaflets have a short stalk up to 4 mm long.

There can be small stipule-like glands at the base of the stalks of the lower 2 pairs of leaflets.

Flower parts are in 3’s, petals are white and the 5 mm ovoid fruit are yellow.
