Sambucus nigra.
The common Elder is naturalised in Queensland.<br
Flower parts are in 5’s and the fruit are dark purple to black.
There are a number of similar subspecies and also cultivars with purple or variegated
leaves, double flowers and other fruit colours.
Sambucus canadensis.
The American elder is also known as Sambucus nigra ssp. canadensis.
Leaves are divided into 5 to 11 elliptic leaflets.
Flower parts are in 5’s and the fruit are dark purple to black.
