Often a solitary mushroom they may grow in small clusters.
The Flower pot or Yellow parasol grows in mulch and commonly in flower pots.
The young ovoid cap becomes flat as it ages.
The smooth surface is covered in fibrous scales and the centre may have an umbo.
The colour fades from bright to pale yellow.
Caps, 6 to 7 cm across are covered in yellow scales.
On older caps they may be concentrated in a central patch.
The edges of the cap are grooved (pleated).
The base of the grooves is much paler than the ridges.
The pale yellow gills are well separated from the stem.
The hollow yellow stems, around 7 to 8 cm high narrow towards the top.
Stems are covered in fine scales.
Remnants of the partial veil form a ring anywhere on the stem.
It may not last long.
The spore print is a creamy white.
