Hexagonia tenuis

A bracket fungus growing on dead or decaying wood.
They can be solitary or in clusters.

Fruit bodies are roughly semi-circular or fan-shaped.
The hard caps are up to 9 or 10 cm wide and almost as deep.
They have a narrow attachment on the flat side but no stalk.

The upper surface has concentric zones of yellow and pale to dark brown.
It can be smooth, have nodules, concentric ridges or radial grooves.
When spores are being produced the edge is white.

The brown to white pore surface is described as being like a honeycomb.
The large pores, up to 0.5 mm across are shallow.
Some pores are 6-sided but others are just angled.
The spore print is white.
