2 A Cats claw infestation

Macfadenya unguis-cacti is a rapidly spreading invasive weed.
In ‘my area’ there is hardly a walk I do that I do not see at least one.

The following slides show part of a large infestation spreading across 4 properties.
Of these, 3 are large unit blocks and 1 is a house, all on the side of a steep hill.

On the right side of Slide 7, under the species notes, is the first tree to be covered in the vine.
At that time (2020) it had just spread to a nearby tree.

Five years later it has spread to at least 3 other properties, all on the side of a hill and fronting 2 streets.

There are small plants taking hold in 2 nearby blocks.

They are a spectacular sight at this time of year (Nov-Dec).
