Angophora

Angophora are separated from other eucalypts by having:
adult leaves in opposite pairs and
flowers with sepals and petals and no operculum.

In Family Myrtaceae Angophporas are commonly known as Apples.
The 12 to 15 species are found along the east coast of mainland Australia.
Many of the species and numerous subspecies are very similar and the status of some is uncertain.
Differences in the shape and size of the leaves, buds and capsules are very small and there is some overlap between them.
Eventually the number of species may change.

They have descriptive names such as Smooth or Rough-barked apple, Broad or Narrow-leaved Apple, Coolabah Apple or Dwarf Apple.
More than one species may share the same common name.
