Medinilla magnifica.

Shrubs up to 2 m high and 1 m wide with 4-angled, ribbed or winged stems.
The large, dark green leaves are opposite.
They can be up to 30 cm long with a short point.
The veins are prominent.

Flowers are in pendulous, branched clusters up to 50 cm long.
They have large ovoid, pink bracts at the base.
The pink, red or violet flowers are up to 2.5 cm across.
The anthers and appendages are straight.
The 1 cm fruit are fleshy, purplish berries.

With its hybrids and cultivars this is one of the most cultivated species.
Medinilla ‘ Malaysian Orchid’ has large clusters of pink flowers.
